Lean Six Sigma - Analyze Phase

The Analyze Phase is the third step in the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology. This course focuses on identifying the root causes of process inefficiencies by analyzing data and process behavior to uncover what’s truly driving variation and defects.

Participants will learn how to interpret data trends, validate root causes, and apply statistical and graphical analysis tools to support evidence-based problem-solving. Techniques such as cause-and-effect analysis, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and Pareto charts are introduced and practiced in practical contexts.

By the end of this course, learners will be equipped to make data-driven decisions and confidently diagnose the sources of process issues.

Key Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the purpose and goals of the Analyze Phase in the DMAIC cycle
  • Perform root cause analysis using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Charts
  • Validate hypotheses using statistical tools (e.g., hypothesis testing, correlation, regression)
  • Analyze process performance data to uncover key drivers of variation and defects
  • Differentiate between common and special cause variation
  • Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders

Target Audience:
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt candidates, quality and process improvement professionals, operations analysts, project managers, and business performance teams.

Prerequisites:
Completion of the Lean Six Sigma Define and Measure Phase courses or equivalent knowledge of project framing and data measurement techniques is recommended.
